Car Hire in Annemasse
Annemasse
Set in a wonderful location, close to Geneva, this French city has easy access to the ski resorts of the Northern Alps. Direct access is made easier by the convergence of the main European motorways. It is an ideal location for naturalists and sports enthusiasts to hike, climb, river fish, paraglide, mountain bike or play golf.
The medieval city of Annemasse is close to the Geneva centre and the fabulous lake and is often used by travellers as a short stop-over on the way to the more remote winter sports resorts. It is a city of approximately 30,000 inhabitants and is located in an exposed area without any natural defences. In Gallo-Roman times it was the site of a small city known as Namasce and has grown in stature and importance since then, largely due to the improvement and provision of its transport links.
If you like French food, Annemasse centre is the place to be for the quality and range of produce available in the open markets. There are a good range of eateries here, most of them more reasonably priced than the larger resorts a short distance away.
Annemasse is not an especially lively place but its close proximity to the city of Geneva means that it doesn't matter. People come here for the breathtaking scenery and panoramic view, all of which can be enjoyed at a somewhat slower place than elsewhere in the region.
