Antibes

Situated between Nice and Cannes in the south of France, Antibes is one of the most enjoyable places to visit on the Côte d'Azur on the French Riviera. Lively and attractive, the town has interesting links with a range of history and culture. Roman influences are evident in the walls of the old town and the aqueducts and the old port was the heart of the town during its Greek rule. Port Vauban now boasts the largest marina in Europe. This active seaside town has spectacular sandy beaches and is popular with tourists and locals. There are plenty of little streets to explore in the warren of the old town and gems to discover such as the cake shops and chocolatiers with their magnificent creations. Napoleon Bonaparte positively endorsed this area when he moved here in 1794 and Picasso also forged links with this vibrant place. Originally colonized by the Greeks over 2000 years ago, Antibes has never looked back and has added exotic and tranquil gardens, a water adventure park, cafes and museums to its list of visitor attractions. It is a good thing that the transport links here are so efficient, as many people want the mixture of tranquillity and vibrancy which Antibes has to offer.
