Probably one of the most famous resorts in the Pays Basque region of south-west France, Biarritz nestles in the beautiful Bay of Biscay. This large, vibrant, cosmopolitan town has been a principal resort since the 19th century when Napoleon Bonaparte's wife fell in love with the area and he commissioned a palace to be built on the beach.
