Located to the east of Faro on Portugal's Algarve coast, this modern holiday resort has long sandy beaches backed by dunes which are dotted with small pine woods. Only 15 minutes away from many of Portugal's best golf courses, it is an ideal base for touring the areas of Southern Spain and the Algarve.
A small, scenic town it has its fair share of good bars and shops, many of these shops sell local crafts and souvenirs. Situated near the Spanish border, it is ideal for a foray into this magnificent country with all the sights and sounds you would expect.
With a fine sandy beach and clear, warm water, many of the tourists who visit simply stay and sunbathe, not venturing far from the peaceful surroundings this little town has to offer. If you choose to venture, there are plenty of interesting things to see and do in the immediate vicinity of Cabanas. The town backs on to a nature reserve where you can hike or ride and perhaps spot some of the rare birds and flowers which have made their home here. There is a casino which offers fantastic floor shows nearby and more lively towns with vibrant nightlife can be experienced after a short drive.
