Nambia - Travel Guide

Description
The magnificent Republic of Namibia in southern Africa is a peaceful land of old traditions, ancient tribes and modern amenities. It has its own share of wonders such as ‘Dragon's Breath' - the largest subterranean lake in the world, the Cape Fur Seal Colony, Fish River Canyon - second only in size to The Grand Canyon in the U.S.A., and the Namib Desert. Namib Desert is a spectacular, barren red sand-scape extending along the coastal strip from north to south. The Skeleton Coast, in the north, is where the remains of unfortunate seafarers and whales, pushed ashore during dense fog, have been found. The Diamond Coast in the south has the richest source of diamonds on the planet. Due to its location, Namibia is also renowned for the abundance of wildlife within its borders, in particular the numbers of elephants which roam throughout its interior. Etosha National Park (Namibia's premier game park) has plenty of elephants as well as zebra, lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe and springbok. There is an intense pride of the variety and abundance of wildlife in Namibia. 14% of the land, including almost the entire Namib Desert coastal strip, is protected and many game parks and reserves focus on preservation as well as tourism. With so many treasures to see, many of the fabulous animals are entirely upstaged by the beauty of the surroundings in which they live.
